After reading the article I am left with a few questions. I made this topic not only to ask for answers but also to bring attention to expanding the blog, if deemed appropriate.
Are demotions possible? If so, how (by hand of an employee / by hand of a trust level 4 / automatically)
Are the requirements and or or? I'd assume and but it is not clear, unless i overlooked something.
Trust level 3 requires multiple percentages (in the last 100 days):
Must have visited at least 50% of days
Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
What happens if the goal was reached, the person promoted, and afterwards, the number/s go below again?
Moderators can both change and lock trust levels of users (see screenshot here in the discourse moderation guide). This happens through trust level 4 users (“Leader”) cannot do this. As far as I’m aware the list of trust level 4 abilities in the article is pretty exhaustive (of course, you additionally also have to look at abilities listed for lower trust levels).
It’s “and”.
Trust level 3 (“Regular”) will automatically be taken away again, once the numbers go back below the threshold.
If you read the article carefully, you’ll see it actually containing the answer to these last two questions:
All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status. If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.
It seems, i indeed overlooked it But now i got yet another question: What would happen if a T4 User dipped below the T3 threshold (outside a grace period)?
Trust level 4 does not automatically get removed. As a consequence, trust level 4 users also keep the “Regular” badge even when they no longer fulfill the requirements.
