I’d like to add a comment to this discussion that I started in January 2018: Pre-eRFC: Let's fix DSTs. It was auto-closed this past March.
I could open a new topic, but there is valuable discussion in the topic that I’d rather not copy over, and linking to it is not ideal since I want to reference specific things in main post and there would be a lot of jumping back and forth between the old and new topics. It’s not a particularly long thread, and I just want to post an update on my thoughts about it and reference any developments that have happened since.
Let me know if this is a potential thing we could do, or if you still would prefer that I open a new topic. I don’t really understand the motivation for auto-closing old topics so if the answer is that I should open a new topic, I would appreciate an explanation as to why.
