Please do not derail the thread with syntax bikeshedding (except for maybe avoiding new operator at all), syntax was discussed a lot already, and is not the problem in this case.
Haskell/Idris folks is probably the last group of users I’d personally care about, they have every piece of punctuation occupied for something highly useless for non-PL-enthusiasts.
The problem is guaranteed temporary elimination / RVO.
