The 1.68.0 pre-release is ready for testing. The release is scheduled for March 09. [Release notes can be found here.](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/blob/stable/RELEASES.md#version-1680-2023-03-09)

You can try it out locally by running:

```plaintext
RUSTUP_DIST_SERVER=https://dev-static.rust-lang.org rustup update stable
```

The index is [https://dev-static.rust-lang.org/dist/2023-03-06/index.html](https://dev-static.rust-lang.org/dist/2023-03-06/index.html).

The release team is also thinking about changes to our pre-release process: we'd love your feedback [on this GitHub issue](https://github.com/rust-lang/release-team/issues/16).

It seems like the change mentioned in [Updating the Android NDK in Rust 1.68 | Rust Blog](https://blog.rust-lang.org/2023/01/09/android-ndk-update-r25.html) is not mentioned in the release notes.

Testing with the 1.68.0 pre-release version of rust, I can confirm that my project targeting Android API level 17 and NDK version 21 no longer compiles.

Thanks for flagging this. I'd be happy to see a PR to amend the release notes, though that won't happen in time for the release tomorrow.

We'll also include an explicit mention in the blog post itself though, which should hopefully remind folks.
